Eleanor Kretzer Kavod Awards 2020
It is time to share all the good things your sisterhood has been doing since our last District Convention - and be recognized for your creativity, dedication, and hard work. Start now by identifying all your sisterhood's successful programs which could gain recognition for your sisterhood. Think about all the great programs that have been initiated after the WRJ Pacific District convention held in the San Diego Area in October, 2018.
The Eleanor Kretzer Kavod Award will be presented at the 2020 WRJ Pacific District Convention to be held via Zoom on October 24-25 and posted in the Chai Line and on virtual sites including our WRJ Pacific District website, Facebook page and Yammer Group.
New in 2020, there are three award categories. These categories are: Programs for our Sisterhoods, Congregational Outreach Programs, and Programs for our Communities. A sisterhood or group of sisterhoods may submit any program that has been started since the last district convention in October 2018. Virtual programs are eligible for awards as well as ones that took place when in-person gatherings were still possible.
Winning programs will be highlighted and honored at the convention plenary sessions and there will be opportunities to learn more about these programs in chat rooms and videos during and after our virtual conference. After Convention, the winning programs will be posted on the WRJ Pacific District website.
The award categories are:
Programs for our sisterhoods – these are the programs that we plan for our own sisterhoods and possibly for other sisterhoods as well:
Outreach Programs – these are sisterhood-sponsored programs that benefit other groups within our congregational communities:
Programs for our communities – these programs may be Tikkun Olam, social justice or civic engagement programs or fundraising to benefit underserved groups in our communities.
We plan to select three or more awards. There will be at least one from each category. If one or more category receives a large number of submissions for excellent programs, the committee has discretion to choose more than one winning program from that category.
