Thank you for your support of the Refugee & Immigrant Services Program at Jewish Family Service (JFS) of Seattle. JFS works with HIAS, formerly the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, to resettle refugees assigned by the U.S. Department of State. They are the largest resettlement agency in WA state. Refugees come from all over - Afghanistan, Ukraine, Congo, etc. The JFS’s motto is “Values into Action and Help into Hope.”

JFS provides services from pre-arrival through the first 90 days of the resettlement period. But their work with our new neighbors extends far beyond that initial three-month period, from Day 91 through citizenship. JFS provides holistic case management and education services to helps refugees, immigrants and asylees to become economically, socially, and civically integrated in their community. Learn more here!

JFS is currently supporting 600 households. They would appreciate help with collecting new items to help set up apartments for the latest arrivals. These families are arriving here with virtually nothing. Gift cards are an important and empowering way to help refugees re-settle in the Puget Sound Area with dignity and comfort.

The JFS Amazon Wish List can be found here. (Be sure to select “JFS’s Gift Registry Address” as the shipping address.)** Gift cards from Target, Fred Meyer, or Safeway would be appreciated as well.

If you are attending in person, please bring your gift cards to the WRJ PD 2023 Convention in Bellevue. Look for the box at the Registration table to drop off your cards. Please write the value of the gift card on the card in marker.

Please encourage your Sisterhoods to participate as well. Collecting funds from your membership would allow you to purchase larger furniture items from the wish list. Let others at your synagogue know how to donate, too. If attending the convention virtually you can still help JFS through their Amazon wish list here.

Thank you for supporting the JFS refugee and immigrant resettlement program. And thank you for living our Jewish value of welcoming the stranger.

Questions? Contact Nancy Federman at [email protected].
