2020 Convention Social Action Project: No Sew Blankets
Our Pacific District has a proud history of promoting social action projects in connection with our Conventions. The Action & Advocacy Team selected a social action project for our 2020 Virtual Convention that you can do from your home: making and collecting fleece and other blankets for babies and toddlers. These blankets will be donated to a several different organizations helping new mothers and young children in need throughout our Pacific District. During the current pandemic, the need for these blankets is greater than ever.
You and your sisterhoods are encouraged to participate in this project by making blankets. Blanket kits are available at Jo-Ann or Amazon. Search "no sew blanket/throw kits." Because these blankets are for babies and toddlers, they do not need to be full size.
We understand and appreciate that many individuals and sisterhoods have existing relationships with organizations who are in need of baby/toddler blankets, and we encourage these individuals and sisterhoods to donate their finished blankets to these local organizations. The Action & Advocacy Team also is providing a list of organizations and locations throughout our Pacific District where you will be able to drop off your finished blankets. Click here to access a list of organizations where blankets can be donated.
We encourage sisterhoods to collaborate in both making and delivering the blankets. Our Pacific District encompasses a large geographical area and we will need to work together to make this project a success! We also encourage you to fill out our online reporting form so we can keep track of how many blankets were donated and which organizations received them. Click here to fill out the online reporting form.
We are excited that our circumstances this year actually give us an opportunity to expand our Convention social action project and donate more to a broader group of organizations in need than ever before.
