WRJ Sisterhood District Dues Policy Update

Support Our Pacific District Camps!
Normally, each year in the fall, we send out District dues statements and ask each sisterhood to make an accounting of its membership status to determine the number of annual dues payable to the Pacific District.

However, we are pleased to announce that WRJ will no longer ask sisterhoods for District-level dues! This means sisterhoods now only need to send a single dues payment of $18 for each sisterhood member, payable to WRJ and sent to the New York office.

What does this mean for your sisterhood? First, your sisterhood still gets all the benefits of belonging to the Pacific District*, and you will remain a part of our vibrant PD community…all without paying the extra $2 per member District-level dues!

What does this mean for our camps? On our District dues statement, we previously asked our sisterhoods for a voluntary donation for our Pacific District URJ Camps. Since we no longer send out District dues statements, we ask our sisterhoods to donate separately to our camps.

Did you know that our URJ camps, Camp Newman and Camp Kalsman, will be up and running this summer and still need your support?

  • Camp Newman has been rebuilt since it experienced the California wildfires and is bigger and better than ever!
  • Camp Kalsman is busy with activities and events and recently served as the site for our District Kallah.

Staff at these camps work diligently to ensure our campers stay well and safe. However, the ability to continue our beloved camps' traditions and treasured activities depends on donations.

If your sisterhood is willing to contribute to camps for our children and grandchildren, please use the remittance form to send your contribution to our District. A suggested donation is $0.15 per member or more if your group chooses.

Of course, we would appreciate any additional support you can offer to assist the WRJ Pacific District with our programs, activities, and technological needs, and there is a space for that on the remittance form.

If you have any questions about payments, don't hesitate to contact Shari Carruthers, [email protected].

Thank you for your continued support of our camps and our Pacific District!

*Benefits of affiliation with the Pacific District include close contact with your sisterhood via your Area Director and online and in-person webinars, social events, and educational activities. You'll have the opportunity to develop leadership skills through our District's Area Events and conventions. There's programming on everything from social justice and advocacy topics to cooking to learning about different cultures. Our District Board includes experts on membership, budgeting, leadership succession, conflict resolution, fundraising, and programming, and your sisterhood is eligible to have speakers from our District come to support you! We are grateful that you are a valued member of the Pacific District and look forward to continuing to partner with you this year to make your sisterhood even more successful.
