SOCIAL OUTREACH with SISTERHOOD (S.O.S.)
​

Sisterhood/Women's Group: University Synagogue Sisterhood, Los Angeles, CA

Goal(s): to foster Sisterhood participation among younger women, and to supply a women’s shelter with food and other supplies, as well as notes and greetings
Brief description: Sisterhood made, packed, and delivered sandwiches, desserts, and supplies to a women’s shelter, as well as notes and greetings. University’s preschoolers decorated lunch bags. Members also invited shelter residents to holiday meals. 
Personnel needed: 30 Sisterhood members and an undetermined number of preschoolers

BINGO AND PIZZA NIGHT FOR CAMPERSHIP
and Other Camp Fundraisers

Sisterhood/Women's Group: Congregation B’nai Torah Sisterhood, Belleview, WA

Goal(s): to provide camp scholarships
Brief description: Sisterhood held a number of camp fundraisers, including a Bingo and Pizza Night, hamantaschen sales, and dessert receptions following the congregation’s Cultural Art Series Concerts. 
 
WOMEN’S RETREAT

Brief description: Sisterhood held a women’s retreat in which they baked challah, celebrated Shabbat and Havdalah, held workshops targeted toward women’s health, and auctioned presents for a cancer charity.
 

 
SISTERHOOD RETREAT: A DAY in the GARDEN of EDEN, LOS ANGELES STYLE

Brief description: Sisterhood members heard from a clinical psychologist/stress management expert, took part in a Qi Gong session for relaxation and stress relief, studied Torah, began work on a Sisterhood tallit, and held a Havdalah service and sang.
 
THE TEMPLE BETH AMI JEWISH FOOD FESTIVAL

Brief description: It was a symposium with professionally-led talks on the biochemical aspects of addiction, the impact on families, and recovery.  Rabbi addressed those feeling left out of our community.
